CPJHL League Update Canadian Junior Hockey News

Published: Monday, 19 Sep 2016
By: Scott Ludwig

The CPJHL, in its effort to maintain the highest standards of competition and development are announcing that the Coldwater Falcons and the Akwesasne Chiefs will not participate in the 2016-2017 CPJHL season.

This decision was made during a pre-season CPJHL ownership meeting. The league was put into a position where it had no other option but to make the decision to not include the Coldwater Falcons and the Akwesasne Chiefs.

Unfortunately, these teams could not recruit enough players to put a competitive team on the ice that would not jeopardize the quality of play or the safety of our players.

The goal of the CPJHL has always been to take the ice in 2016 with quality teams, regardless of the number of teams. It is, and always has been a quality over quantity discussion amongst our owners. In taking this action, we are in the long run doing whats best for our student athletes.

We would like to thank you for your continued support, and look forward to a great season.

The schedule will be changing, make sure to take note. This weekend will run as scheduled on our website. We will see you all at the game!
