While the North
American Hockey League is busy adding the Lone Star Brahmas’ name to the Robertston
Cup, the hottest rumor in Duluth is the cup winning coach’s own name being tied
a United States Hockey League position with the Omaha Lancers.
While we have been
able to confirm Wildfong’s candidacy, it is unclear if the Lancers have
finalized that decision yet.
Maybe they were
waiting to see how the Brahmas did at the Robbie. Let’s check that task off the
It’s my opinion that
Wildfong has been able to lead Lone Star to the championship in spite of issues
within the organization. Those issues mostly fall at the feet of ownership. In
a nutshell, the Brahmas have never been the IceRays, RoadRunners, Ice Dogs, or
even the Rebels when it comes to taking care of the players.
Wildfong was able to
coach his team past those shortcomings all the way to the Robertson Cup.
So what would the
coach do with such a top-notch organization like the Lancers? I’m thinking such
a hire puts Omaha back on top, and that’s exactly where they belong.
Heisler has spent a lifetime in the game of hockey. Stephen is also working
with individual teams, coaches, and players as a director with the Heisler
Hockey Group. Stephen and his family spend most of their time in Florida.
