The JuniorHockey.Com USHL Player of the Week is Des Moines Buccaneers’ Matt Brown.
The only game thus far that Matt Brown has not scored in was his first, at the Fall Classic, against the Madison Capitols. The Bucs would still win that game 5-2 and Brown would still tally an assist. Matt more than made up for it in his second game of the year. This time Chicago would surrender 3 goals to give Brown a hat trick. If that were not enough, he also managed a hat trick in assists as well. In a tight tilt verses Waterloo, Brown scored in the third to save his team from a loss. He would then go on to score in a shootout and the Buccaneers would win the, day 3-2. On Saturday, despite losing to the Stars, Brown would fire six shots to earn another goal, continuing his strong play to begin the season.
Matt is a native of Wood Ridge, NJ. The majority of his youth he spent playing within the New Jersey Rockets system. Prior to playing with the Buccaneers in Des Moines, Matt played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) and the Odessa Jackalopes (NAHL). He has committed to play for the University of Massachusetts- Lowell in 2019.
