The Wenatchee Wild kicked off a season-high eight game homestand on Friday night with a resounding 3-0 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at Town Toyota Center.
On a night set up to honor the Boy Scouts with specially designed jerseys and a fundraising postgame auction, it was fitting that the Wild demonstrated the Scout motto, “Be Prepared”. Wenatchee scored first and never looked back. Christophe Fillion scored the first goal as he redirected a Josh Arnold pass from the right wing wall at 9:47 of the first period. The Wild ramped up the attack in the second period, doubling their lead to 2-0 when Matt Dorsey lifted a gorgeous backhander across the body into the high glove side corner at 3:48. Wenatchee outshot Alberni Valley 22-8 over the first 40 minutes. In the final period, the Bulldogs managed a few more shots on goal but Austin Park turned aside each and every one of them, 24 in all for the shutout victory. Marko Reifenberger netted his first point since joining the Wild last week at 15:01 of the third to provide the final margin when he snapped a shot high blocker side from the right circle. The win was the second shutout victory of the year for Wenatchee.
Wenatchee (25-14-2) continues their homestand Saturday against the Victoria Grizzlies (25-13-0-2). The game will be available for video streaming on HockeyTV, and will be broadcast live both locally and via internet stream on “NewsRadio 560 KPQ”, with the Pregame Show starting at 6:45 pm.
