Matt McBride, College Station Spirit, NA3HL: Matt assisted on his team’s, and the game’s, first goal in Friday night’s eventual 7-4 loss to the Texas Brahmas. He now has five goals and four assists in 17 games. That point total ranks the 2000 defenseman sixth in scoring on a team that has endured a challenging season.
Kevin Lake, Louisiana Drillers, NA3HL: Kevin turned away 32 of 33 shots in the Drillers’ 3-1 win Friday night over the Mid Cities Jr. Stars. Kevin, a 1998 who has played eight games of Tier II hockey this season, is now 6-0 with Louisiana and has a sterling 1.81 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage.
Matt Moran, Granite City Lumberjacks, NA3HL: Matt scored a goal Friday night and set up another as the Lumberjacks swept their weekend games with 4-1 wins over both Willmar and New Ulm Steel. The 1998 forward is closing strong in his final year of junior hockey.
Ryan Gil, Battlesford North Stars, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League: Gil was a playmaker over the weekend, setting up a goal in Friday night’s 3-2 win over the Kindersley Klippers, and assisting on two more on Saturday, including the tying goal that sent the game into overtime, which the North Stars won 4-3 in a shootout over the Melfort Mustangs. The 1998 forward was recognized as the Third Star of Saturday night’s game.
